EDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Temperatures in the mid to upper 30s well inland from the
  Lake Erie and Lake Ontario shorelines will result in frost
  formation.

* WHERE...Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, and Northern Erie counties.

* WHEN...From midnight tonight to 8 AM EDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if
  left uncovered.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL BRING HEAVY RAIN TO NORTHEASTERN ERIE 
COUNTY...

AT 727 PM EDT, A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WAS LOCATED OVER DEPEW, MOVING 
EAST AT 10 MPH. THIS STORM WILL PRODUCE HEAVY RAINFALL, WITH AN 
INCH OF RAIN IN AN HOUR POSSIBLE.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...
BUFFALO, CHEEKTOWAGA, WEST SENECA, CLARENCE, DEPEW, AMHERST,
LANCASTER, WILLIAMSVILLE, ELMA AND ELMA CENTER.

THIS INCLUDES INTERSTATE 90 BETWEEN EXITS 52A AND 49.

TORRENTIAL RAINFALL IS ALSO OCCURRING WITH THIS STORM, AND MAY CAUSE
LOCALIZED FLOODING. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE THROUGH FLOODED
ROADWAYS.

...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO
8 PM EDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values in the mid 90s this afternoon and
  Wednesday afternoon, then near 100 Thursday and Friday
  afternoon. Highest heat index values will be inland from the
  Lake Erie and Lake Ontario shores.

* WHERE...Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Northern Cayuga,
  Oswego, Northern Erie, Genesee, Livingston, and Ontario
  counties.

* WHEN...From 1 PM Tuesday to 8 PM EDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses to occur. Warm overnight low temperatures will make
  it difficult to cool buildings without air conditioning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
  Northeastern Erie County in western New York...
  Southeastern Niagara County in western New York...

* Until 545 PM EDT..

* At 451 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Blasdell, or
  over Lackawanna, moving northeast at 30 mph.

  HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
  Buffalo, Cheektowaga, West Seneca, Clarence, Lackawanna, Kenmore,
  Depew, Amherst, Tonawanda and Lancaster.

 This includes Interstate 90 between exits 57 and 49.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground
lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately.
Lightning is one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can
hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM MONDAY TO 2 AM
EDT TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Southwest winds 40 to 50 mph with gusts up to 70 mph
  expected.

* WHERE...Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Northern Erie, Genesee, and
  Wyoming counties.

* WHEN...From 10 AM Monday to 2 AM EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...This will be a dangerous situation. Very strong
  winds will result in numerous downed trees and power lines.
  EXTENSIVE power outages and property damage are expected.
  Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

People should avoid being outside in forested areas and around
trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of
your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if
you must drive.
