ROTARY HAPPENINGS

Rotary is the world’s first service club organization and is dedicated to humanitarian service advocating goodwill and peace around the world and in local communities. There are 30,000 Rotary clubs worldwide made up of 1.2 million members. The Rotary Club of Akron Newstead is one of these clubs.

*The club will hold its 32 nd Annual Christmas Auction on Friday, December 3 at the Akron Fire Hall starting at 6PM. Tickets are $25/pp and information can be found at http://www.akronnewsteadrotary.org or at our event page on Facebook @ Akron-Newstead Rotary Club. Funds from the auction will provide assistance to families and their children during the Holidays.

*We recently had a very successful Andrew Boncore Memorial Fundraiser/Raffle which was seen live on our Facebook page. Thanks to all community members who supported this event as well as our corporate sponsors the Bank on Buffalo, Cold Spring Construction, County Line Stone, Doyle Security, Empire Building

Diagnostics, Niagara Label, Niagara Specialty Metals, Perry’s Ice Cream, Whiting and Interweb Technology Group who are always there for the club and its community work. Also, raffle ticket sponsors Akron Line, Cold Spring Construction, County Line Stone, Niagara Specialty Metals, Jan’s Smoke Shop II & Gas Mart, Ms. Jean’s Child Care, Rez Smoke Shop and Gas Mart, Two Eagles Smoke Shop and Stamm Law Firm played an important part in the raffle’s success.

*The Rotary Interact Club at ACS has been active in helping people through their projects currently and the near future. Club members have been coaching our senior citizens on technology at the AN Senior Center through their “Ready, Set, Click and Learn” program. The club also conducted a sporting goods drive for children in Bani, Dominican Republic. The packaging of food for the homeless, making tie blankets for children at Roswell, helping with the Akron Bicentennial Planning, and assisting with road side cleanup are examples of future projects. We thank Christina O’Malley, ACS 8 th grade teacher and Interact Advisor for her
guidance.

*We are proud to announce that club member Dean Hyder, Distiller and Manager of the local Old Scotland Road Distillery has won the Best of Show Award-Governor’s Cup from the NYS Distillers Guild for his Handlebar Handcrafted White Corn Whiskey. Congratulations Dean.
