The Erie County Board of Elections is currently training poll inspectors in eight towns, including Newstead, to prepare for the expanded use of e-poll books in the Tuesday, June 22, primary election.
This will be the first time e-poll books will be used on election day, when voters will need to report to their assigned local poll location. The eight towns chosen for this expansion are all in the 27th Congressional District, which has the largest number of inspectors with previous e-poll book experience.
In 2019 and 2020, iPad-style poll books were used only during the nine days of early voting prior to elections. Registered voters were able to sign-in and cast a ballot at any of the county’s 37 early voting polling sites.
The Newstead training location is the Newstead Fire Company on Cummings Road.
