Newstead Fire Company Enhances Their Off-Road Rescue Capabilities

The Newstead Volunteer Fire Company Inc. recently purchased an all-terrain 2020 CAM AM SSZ Defender Pro side by side which was made possible through the generosity of The Pappalardo Family Foundation and supplemented through fire company funds. This unique addition to Newstead’s fleet will enhance off road search and rescue with subsequent transport of victim(s). The side by side is equipped with a Medlite Transport skid, which safely secures the victem for transport. This unit is made to handle any condition, obstacle or weather as it has interchangable tracks for Winter and wheels for Summertime use. The fire company also purchased an 18 foot 2021 CAM Superline utility trailer to safelt transport the rescue vehicle to the emergency location.

Defender Pro was recently put into service after Newstead firefighters were fully trained on the operation of the vehicle as well as trailering it on the highway.

The side by side was purchased from Buck’s Motorsports of Akron, graphics by Joseph Capan (corrected again) of Signmatic Systems and emergency light package installed by NFC firefighter Brandon Meek.

The purchase of the Defender Pro will strengthen the Newstead Fire Company’s emergency services for the residents of the Town of Newstead and neighboring communities.
