Rotary is the world’s first service club organization and is dedicated to
humanitarian service advocating goodwill and peace around the world and in local communities. There are 30,000 Rotary clubs worldwide made up of 1.2 million members. The Rotary Club of Akron Newstead is one of these clubs

*Club members and Interact (ACS’s Rotary club) will conduct a Highway/Waterway Cleanup on April 24. The highway portion is the traditional Adopt A Highway program that the club has sponsored for many years. Our area starts at Main and Buell and continues through the village. This effort coincides with Earth Day, a worldwide event on April 22 nd demonstrating support for environment protection.

*The club will sponsor a Connect Life Blood Drive on Thursday, April 29 th from 2-6PM at the Akron Fire Department Hall. Please think about “Donating Life” on the 29 th . Signups will appear as we get closer to the event.

*Our new President Elect is Cheryl Johannes, proprietor of the Candy Apple Café. This will be Cheryl’s second term as president when she takes over the reins of the club on July 1st, the start of the new Rotary year.

*A few weeks ago the club hosted the company spokesperson for Modern Disposal Services Madeline Matthews. As many of you aware, Modern services our area. Madeline spoke about their excellent recycling program and its importance. Please do your part.
