Rotary is the world’s first service club organization and is dedicated to humanitarian service advocating goodwill and peace around the world and in local communities. There are 30,000 Rotary clubs worldwide made up of 1.2 million members. The Rotary Club of Akron Newstead is one of those clubs.

*Thanks to all who attended as well as supported our third annual Oktoberfest held last
month at Akron Acres. It was a fun evening with the proceeds helping the “Blessings in a
Backpack” program at ACS that the club finances. The program addresses the challenge of childhood food security.

*Retired Director of the CD Wright Center Walt Rosonowski visited the club’s most recent
meeting. Walt, who has done so much for the Akron Newstead community through his
leadership at the Center, recognized the club for its support of the facility and the citizens it serves.

*The club and members of the ACS Interact Club recently did their liter cleanup of areas in the community as part of the “Adopt a Highway” program. Our responsibility extends from Buell Street at Main through the Village to Cedar Street.

*Mark your calendars! The Annual Rotary Christmas Auction takes place at the Akron Fire Hall on Friday evening December 6 th . It’s a fun event with proceeds dedicated to helping those in need in our community during the Holiday season.
