Today is the first of a bunch of BIG DAYS for Akron. It was “open casting call day” at Akron School for “extras” in Paramount’s A Quiet Place 2, which begins filming scenes here July 15th.
I took a ride up to Akron School to chat up some of the hopeful actors. Much to my surprise, there wasn’t any of the chaos I was expecting. There was no traffic, plenty of parking, no “papparazzi” except for me (armed with my iPhone). The line coming out of the school wasn’t too long at all and seemed to be moving pretty fast. The age range was between little kids to over 80, but you have to be over 18 to be in the running.
There was no information provided about how many “Extras” will be needed. Just that the call was open to everyone over 18.
Jesse Powers 21, from Buffalo is hoping to get picked. He started doing theater in 7th grade and has been acting and auditioning ever since. He will be studying Liberal Arts at ECC in the Fall. Jesse just started writing for The Geekiverse; Your Source of Geek News and Entertainment . His first article is a review of Rocketman, The Movie . Way to go, Jesse! Editor’s Note: I could get distracted on that site for hours!!! Beware my fellow geek friends that read this!) Jesse said the process was easy. Just filled out some information, they snapped a picture and he was on his way.
Jacob Smart and Brad Spiotta are actors/writer/producer/independent filmmakers from Buffalo hoping to add to their resumes and make some contacts. They are currently working on a feature film in Buffalo called Mr. Oak. <<< Visit Their Facebook, this one looks cool too!
You meet so many interesting people in lines for stuff like this, and rock concerts too. You just never know. Characters, for sure. -JAP-
