CENTRAL ERIE AND SOUTHWESTERN GENESEE COUNTIES... At 209 PM EST, A band of lake effect snow was producing snow fall rates of around one inch per hour along a line extending from Alden to Hamburg. Winds in excess of 30 mph are possible with this band of lake effect snow that will cause widespread blowing and drifting of snow. This will reduce visibilities below one quarter of a mile at times. Locations impacted include... West Seneca, Lackawanna, Hamburg, East Aurora, Darien Lakes State Park, Evans, Elma, Marilla, Orchard Park, Alden, Blasdell, Derby, Wales Center, Elma Center, Angola on the Lake, Woodlawn Beach State Park, Billington Heights and Cowlesville. This includes Interstate 90 between exits 57 and 55. Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this dangerous snow squall. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads are likely to lead to accidents. Consider delaying travel until the squall passes your location. Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time when traveling.
